2026 will be the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the day we celebrate the birth of The United States of America. It will also be the 40th anniversary of Hands Across America, an attempt to form a human chain from coast to coast. In honor of that attempt, and our nation’s birthday, we will once again reach across our county’s great landscape. At noon, on September 5th, 2026, Americans will take a moment to hold hands and sing America the Beautiful, reminding the world of our unity, and ourselves of our potential.

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties,
Above the fruited plain!
